Nowadays, everyone knows someone who is living with food allergies. Whether it’s gluten, nuts, milk, or anything else, finding delicious food that is allergen free is not easy.. unless you know where to go!
1. Petit Lapin
Petit Lapin is an adorable little bakery in Westmount free of the top allergens; peanuts, nuts (almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachio nuts and walnuts), sesame seeds, milk, eggs, seafood (fish, crustaceans and shellfish), soy, wheat and other gluten containing grain (barley , oats, rye , etc.). Owner Viviane Nguyen created Petit Lapin to cater to allergy burdened children like her own son. Nguyen’s personal experience gave her the motivation to create allergen free cakes and sweets perfectly suited for every tongue. There is no better place in Montreal to get a beautiful personalized allergen free cake than Petit Lapin– not to mention their delicious treats are also vegan! This adorable bakery has broken boundaries and crushed stereotypes, allergen-free and vegan cakes can and are most definitely both delicious and beautiful!
2. Baked2Go
Baked2Go makes incredible gluten-free baked goods that you can eat there or bring with you at home! All wrapped up and ready “2Go” this spot is perfect for when you just don’t have time to sit down and have a meal. We all know how hard it is to purchase tasty gluten-free breads, croissants and such, but Baked2Go offers nothing but the best! Suited especially for those with celiac disease, this bakery makes the best gluten-free bread in town. You can smell it already!
Gluten-free treats for all! This charming café is my ultimate favourite spot for gluten-free sweets; it’s painless pleasure for those who are gluten intolerant/sensitive and celiac. Their selection of pastries are so good your mouth will water, Cookie Stéfanie believes that you should not have to compromise taste in order to be gluten-free. This perfectly located café in Old Montreal even has salads, sandwiches, soups, lattes and specialty teas; all so good, you need to try it for yourself.
Sophie Sucrée is a beautiful vegan bakery that believes in suiting food philosophies and certain dietary restrictions, including food allergies such as gluten intolerances, eggs, etc. Their commitment to 100% plant based and often-organic products makes this bakery the hotspot for vegans and Montrealers with food allergies. Their delicacies are labeled GF (gluten-friendly), NF (nut-free) and SF (soy-free). The wide variety of both gluten-friendly and nut-free options makes this vegan bakery stand out from the rest– given the already restrictive vegan diet, Sophie Sucrée has delicious treats for every diet.
5. Le Marquis
This well-known 100% gluten-free bakery is best for those with celiac disease. Their dedication to a safe gluten-free environment makes eating fresh bread, quiches and cakes a worry-free pleasure. From pastries and cakes to salty treats and breads, grocery shopping is just a click away, no need to travel long distances for gluten-free treats anymore– Le Marquis has got you covered.
