Cheers to Chagall

I have had the privilege of visiting art exhibitions with school and with family before, but I had never quite seen anything as the Chagall exhibition at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal. Eccentric, energizing, lively: the biggest exhibition dedicated to the famous Marc Chagall in Canada did not disappoint!

Chagall is eccentric and different, and his art reflects humanity, love, and sorrow. Hundreds of his pieces are available to the public, from his famous paintings to his iconic stained glass. The exhibition is family-friendly, and even installed the La Petite boîte à Chagall, a gallery/atelier for children aged 4-13 which included artistic workshops, interactive art and many multimedia devices, allowing youth to dive into the wonderful world of Chagall.

For lovers of dance and ballet, over 40 of Chagall-designed costumes and set decorations are exhibited in the museum, notably for Aleko, L’Oiseau de Feu and my personal favourite, the La Flute Enchantée opera. For VIP members of the MBAM or members of the VIP Circles, you can enjoy a guided tour of Chagall’s iconic work, accompanied by professionals from the museum. It is a breathtaking way of exploring art in all of its glory.

With 340 of Chagall’s masterpieces in every single one of his mastered mediums, a stunning performance by local talents and accompanied by a prestigious orchestra, no wonder over 60 000 visitors have passed by the MBAM in less than a month!
