Le Cellier du Roi : high-end gastronomy in the countryside

I’d like to clarify that I am definitely not trying to offend anyone by using this title! The countryside is beautiful, and it is great to get away from the city and get close to nature. Actually, did you know that Jérôme Ferrer will be taking over an establishment in the Cantons-de-l’Est? The lovers of the Europea — like me! — will be happy to discover the Cellier du Roi, established on the Golf le Royal Bromont. Here’s insight on the night I spent there.

The service and the warm welcome we received were both impeccable. I may have been quite last minute with reservations (I actually reserved the night before), yet the director of the restaurant still greeted us nicely and with a huge smile on his face. After the night started with a bit of champagne around the fireplace in the lobby, we were then escorted to our tables.

We started the experience with a torchon-style foie gras on brioche bread and the truffle and lobster cappuccino, which I talked about in my article on the Europea. If there is one thing I recommend if you are looking into trying anything signed Ferrer, it is the tasting menu. That is the only way to fully live the experience of the restaurant, all the while being able to taste all the signature dishes that the chef is known for.

Because we shared everything and we all got different dishes (a little plus side of being a blogger!), we were able to try almost everything on the menu. The braised veal remains a favourite of mine, as well as the yuzu scallops. And if you decide to go for the Cornouailles chicken, it is served with a delicious, creamy side of mashed potatoes.

As for wine, the menu offers many affordable choices. And you cannot leave without sharing a plate of sweets. Having been to the Europea downtown a few times already, the idea of finding a few of my favourite dishes in the heart of Bromont was definitely lovely. And I love that the region keeps evolving in terms of gastronomy and outings.

Oh and again, I was amazed to find out that the three course lunch is only $23. Affordable luxury, isn’t that it?
